Learn about The Cattle Raid of Mayo, known as the Táin Bó Fliodhaise. Visit some of the sites of the battle and hear the story of intrigue, scheming, lust and the quest for power in a lawless land of ancient tribal kingdoms.
The main protagonists were the legendary Queen Maedbh of Connacht, her husband Ailil, and Fliodhaise the beautiful Queen of the Barony of Erris in North West Mayo and her husband Oilil. Also and in pursuit of regaining his lost wealth and glory was Fergus Mac Roigh (Maedbhs lover) of Ulster.
